A homeless man with a golden voice become a sensation in Youtube. He got a job offer and he had a chance to reunite with his mom.

He acknowledge God in this video

He was in the wilderness for 2 years, wandering and finding the true meaning of life. He was an alcohol, a drug addict and destroyed his life by those worldly things. Still in the end, God fulfilled his promise.

Welcome your suffering

Why do God let us suffer? A question that lingers my mind few years ago. My dad passed away last October 2006, and on that day, I asked God why do you make me suffer? It corrupted me for almost a year. It affected my relationship with my girlfriend( now by God’s grace she’s my wife), it also made a big impact on my studies and it totally diminished my relationship and belief with God. I questioned God’s existence.

That suffering was a big part of God’s master plan in my life and reading the Bible made me understand all His promises for my life.

“But the tragedy with human beings, we only remember God on the negative way. We Know Him when we are SUFFERING. But what about the daily gifts that He gives us? The family, the children, the food, the employment….”

– an interview Ninoy Aquino

If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, I will change my expression, and smile,’ I still dread all my sufferings, for I know you will not hold me innocent. Since I am already found guilty, why should I struggle in vain?

Job 9:27-29

My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

Psalm 42:10

My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

Psalm 119:50

Waves of challenges

I was invited by a friend to join them for a surf trip. Even though I really don’t feel good that time because of cough and colds, I still managed to go with them and I just prayed to God to give me strength. With one paracetamol and 5000 mg of Vitamin C, I was recharged and ready to face the waves. I love challenges, I started loving them when I submit my self to the Lord and  became a Christian. I consider challenges as a blessing, a God’s way of communicating to me, letting me understand that problems are there to help us be molded into a better person.

It was my first time to experience surfing. I love water sports. I started loving it when I challenged my self to join a LIFE GUARD training offered at Philippine National Red cross, a two weeks training in preparation for a 2 MILE swim in the open sea. Yes, that was really challenging. Vergel, a local surfing instructor, had also the Life Guard training, that is why I manage to have a connection with him. He thought me the basic surfing moves and he was confident that I can easily learn those skills because I had the advantage of being a advance swimmer. And then, the wait is over, big waves are crashing into the shore. A massive 4-5 feet set of waves continuously coming from the open sea. Noy, assisted me by pushing the long board for me to catch a good wave. After three consecutive failures, I managed to have my balance and I experienced my first ever wave ride. After that experience, I was brave enough to face those waves so I can manage to have a good wave ride.

Challenges, Problems are a constant thing in our lives. It will keep on coming like the sets of giant waves in the sea, we need to overcome it. Just don’t give up, consider your problems as blessing from God, He will test you FIRST before He will invest in our lives. Facing our problems together with God in our lives will help us to become a better person. Never give up for God is ABLE and Willing, just acknowledge Him always in every challenges that you face and let Him be the CENTER of your life.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

– Galatians 6:9

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

– Matthew 11:28-30

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

– Philippians 3:13-14

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

– Deuteronomy 31:6

From artificial Happiness to Everlasting happiness

Life with God is amazing. God is a real transformer. Brian Welch, lead guitarist of “KORN”, a famous rock band, felt his happiness knowing his purpose in life, to Worship God and acknowledge Jesus as his savior. ARTIFICIAL HAPPINESS won’t do any good for your life. What the world offers you is just shallow happiness. Happiness and Joy is a serious business of God for us. God has plans for us as He promised in the Bible. a life changing event for Him, his old ways has gone away, and his new life has come, thus he is born again with a deeper relationship with God.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

2 corinthians 5:17

a game of life

Basketball, I grew up with it. The discipline in this game may be applicable to one’s life. My dad taught me how to play the game, in fact, he was a varsity player in his time. I was inspired by him. He wants me to achieve what he achieved way back then. The game of basketball thought me a lot of things, things that would help you be molded in to a better person. You really need to focus on that goal, the goal to win the championship, the goal to become the best. We played basketball last Saturday, and we only have seven players against a complete line up of twelve. I played without any practice for a long period of time. My mind wants to play and give all my best but my body won’t respond to it. We just played with all of our hearts and we just enjoyed the game. We managed to tie the score, but fatigue dominated our team. We ended up tired and exhausted but still, we did not quit. We were focused and we want to win. Last quarter of the ball game and our defense was already breached and our team collapsed. We lost that game, but we won a lot of new friends because that basketball league is all about fellowship, meeting new friends with the same passion, praising God and playing the game of basketball.

In life, we tend to forget that in order for you to attain your goal, you need to experience those toughest time which will make you say, ” I quit”, or ” I don’t deserve this”. But if you focus your self and put God a head of your self first,  these struggles would be far more easier than you think. God did not promise us a life that will be stress and problem free, but God assures us that He will give us protection and guidance throughout our struggles in life. Our everyday training with God is our boot camp, our battleground He is our coach, our mentor, our trainer. He will help us prepare for bigger challenges that we will face and make us ready to achieve our goals in life.

The Calvary Road

Does Christianity can bring a life-changing event in your life? If so, the book entitled The Calvary Road by Roy Hession is the book that you really need to know more about the deeper meaning of Christianity, a life with Jesus dwelling in your heart.

The Calvary Road is about exploring Christianity. It will help us more to know what Christianity is. It provides us a deeper out look about our life as a Christian who definitely needs Jesus in our lives.

I can really relate to this book because what Mr. Roy Hession says about how God will make you experience brokenness, happened in my life. I experience brokenness when my father died four years ago. It made me believe that God does not really exist. It came to the point that even my relationship with my present fiancé was greatly affected. Then I realized that you really need Jesus to be in control of your life when a college friend of mine introduced Jesus in my life. Chapter one is about brokenness and I learned a lot from it. “The Lord Jesus cannot live in us fully and reveal Himself through us until the proud self within us is broken”, this struck me the most because I do admit my pride consumed me when I still didn’t accept Jesus back then. On the other hand, the chapter about the speck and the plank made me realize, how can I disciple someone if I, my self still commit sin. It gave me a scratch on my head, “ now I understand”. The other part of the book where it gave me an upper cut is when Roy Hession described the Pharisees as our selves making God a liar. Now as Christ dwells in our lives, sometimes we lift our own chair to God. We think that the outward abstinence from certain sins is all that God requires from us but really look into our hearts.

The Calvary Road is a classic book which I firmly believe one of the best books I had ever read. It will make you pause for a while because it will definitely lead you to a life of victory with Jesus Christ.

Suzuki GSX R600 2009 model

It was my first time to ride a powerful bike like the Suzuki GSX r600. When my friend Kris Lim of motorcycle magazine texted me and invited me to have a ride together with him, I didn’t hesitate not to say no (even though I haven’t told him I don’t have any experience riding a 600cc motorcycle),  because I know in my self this is a once in a life time opportunity for me to ride my DREAM BIKE! The last time i had an opportunity riding a big bike when I was in Ilocos Norte with my friend who owns a honda CBR 400cc and that was 2 years ago.

Opportunity, defines as a good chance for advancement or progress. Once in awhile we encounter opportunities in our lives which sometimes we are hesitant to accept because of the consequences it might have in your life. We always look on the negative side, we are scared to take on the risk of accepting the opportunities that comes in our lives. Just like Eminem said in on the first lyrics of the  song “lose your self”, If you have one shot, or one opportunity to seize everything you wanted, one moment would you capture it or JUST LET IT SLIP.

Everyday, God gives us opportunities to accept Him and to  be with Him but, we are eager on following the ways of the world and our own understanding. God use our friends, our families and people around us to open opportunities for the betterment of our lives. We always pray for that “once in a lifetime opportunity” but, after we have it, we completely forget the one who open the doors of opportunity for us. We must always always put God first in every moment in our lives because He sacrifice His only Son Jesus for our sins.

Ephesians 5:16

“Make most every opportunity for this evil days.”

Matthew 7:7-8

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the doors will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks find; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
